Metal antenna isolation

There is a quite simple way to isolate metal antenna mounts on carbon hulls without using isolating parts like plastic washers, tiny plastic or heat  shrinking tube etc.Drill a hole of a diameter a bit larger than the widest part of the antenna socket ,for example a washer, at the spot where the antenna will be mounted.

Prepare a small epoxy plate reinforced with glass cloth. Two or three layers of glass fiber should be enough.

Epoxy this plate when cured underneath the hole and maybe even laminate it to the hull itself with a larger piece of glass fiber cloth for greater strength.

Fill the hole on the carbon reinforced hull  with epoxy paste or any other non- conductive,non-elastic material.File/sand down if necessary to match hull surface.

When cured drill the required dia.hole to mount the antenna.

Note that this is not necessary for metal mounts where the receiver cable itself is passing through as it is already isolated, but is absolutely effective on all metal FM/AM receiver antennas.
